To some people a flume, is a flume, is a flume.  They are all based on the same dimensional standards, so it doesn’t really make a difference who makes it.  Right?

Wrong.  As you’ve heard before, the devil is in the details. 

We were recently sent photos of an H Flume installation at a commercial laundry.  The flume was completely configured with an approach section, outlet drop box, pipe stubs, staff gauge, and probe well. 

In looking at the photos it occurred to us that they could help you understand the differences in construction between Openchannelflow and the manufacturer of the installed flume.  We have matched the photos for the two flumes as closely as possible.  Neither flume here is a "show model".  Both are intended for installation and use by their respective customers.

Summary

As you can see from the real-life examples above, all flumes, no matter how obsensibly "equal" they are, aren't equal.  

Openchannelflow prides itself on a cycle of continual product improvement.  Even in a standardized product like a flume, there is always something that can be improved...and we are on the lookout for it!

Now maybe the photos above are from a product that was produced on a "bad day".  The difference is, with our mutiple and overlapping quality checks, our "bad days" never get to the door, much less out it.
