Fiberglass H Flume Used for Cold Weather Edge-Of-Field Monitoring

Fiberglass H Flume Used for Cold Weather Edge-Of-Field Monitoring

Description

One of Openchannelflow's custom fiberglass H Flumes used to measure Edge-of-Field flows in Vermont at the William H. Miner Agricultural Institute.  The flume is provided with both a black coating and embedded heat trace tape to keep the water flowing through the flume during the cold winter months.

For cold weather installations, typically two or more weatherization techniques (radiant heaters, oil layers, colorant, embedded heaters, etc.) are used when accurate flow measurement is required.  This in-depth approach greatly increases the likelihood that the flume will stay ice free through the winter months.
