H Flume Used to Measure Conservation Practices for Pollinators
Description
H flumes can be used in helping to determine the effectiveness of conservation practices.
Here a 3-foot fiberglass H flume is used to sample surface water runoff in a riparian strip adjacent to a corn field. Of particular interest is the presence of neonicotinoids in the runoff waters. Neonicotinoids are highly water soluable and can easily enter a watershed through runoff. Neonicotinoids are of interests as they may be taken in by non-target insects - including pollinators.
