Description

A stainless steel energy absorber mounted downstream of an inlet pipe stub.  

Flow enters the structure, hits the energy absorber, is slowed, and then flows around the absorber.  Tranquilizing racks are commony used downstream of an energy absorber to smooth out and straighten the flow.
