USDA Field Monitoring H Flume

USDA Field Monitoring H Flume

Description

A fiberglass H flume used by the USDA-ARS to measure flows at the edge of a study plot. The flume was provided with black gel coat to maximize heat retention during cold weather.  For sites where power is available, Openchannelflow also offer the option of embedding heat trace tape in the flumes laminate.

The free-spilling discharge off the end of the flume is characteristic of the H series of flumes - which are really more a cross between a flume and a weir than a traditional flume.
